A mushroom body cut from FlyWire v783, 5,177 Kenyon cells and 62,261 plastic synapses onto output neurons, smells the four boards 2048 could hand it and learns which promise sugar, live in the browser. Over 500 games per condition the trained fly scores 6,986 against 1,594 naive and 1,103 for random moves; rewire the nose and it drops to 925, below random, and shuffling its learned synapses puts it back at 1,287. Both controls are buttons on the page. It also explains why the spiking whole brain was dropped: 70-78% of Kenyon cells fired for any input, leaving no sparse code.
