NeuroHex
shakeabhishek
A physical hexapod robot whose escape behaviour comes from fly wiring rather than a hand-written state machine or an abstract neural network. Only the direct one-hop synaptic neighbourhood of the giant-fiber escape circuit is pulled out of the MaleCNS reconstruction through Virtual Fly Brain, roughly 391 neurons including LC4 and LPLC2 looming detectors and JO mechanosensors, and simulated in Brian2 on a Raspberry Pi 5. A camera and OpenCV optical flow feed the spike encoder, and a decoder drives eighteen servos through a PCA9685 controller: a connectome on real hardware, not in a simulator.
