A hybrid worth looking at for how the two halves are separated. The measured MaleCNS wiring does the sensing and the memory: a compound eye laid out on 1,771 real eye columns feeds 4,664 LC and LPLC projection neurons, and odours travel real projection-neuron to Kenyon-cell to MBON paths where dopamine weakens KC-to-MBON synapses to form an association. An external language model only chooses which of a handful of descending neurons fires next. The demo conditions the robot on toxic waste and honey, then shows it avoiding and seeking them.
