DOOM-x-Fly

Runs 138,968 MaleCNS neurons and 4.6 million signed synapses as a recurrent network, unchanged apart from one global scale factor, and has a 256-unit decision layer reading 1,312 descending and 9,199 visual projection neurons pick one of eight Doom buttons. Over 100 runs from unseen starts on shareware E1M1 it reaches the exit 57 percent of the time against 0 percent for random or always-forward and 6 percent for a blind replay; scrambling its own frames drops it to 0. The author states the open question plainly: an earlier, simpler test suggested random wiring carried at least as much signal.
